Family Time

Posted by Natalie Best on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 0 comments
We have been in Mississauga for over a week now, and though we are missing daddy, we are enjoying time spent with our family. It has been hard adjusting to being back at work, though harder I think for me than Jacob. Everyday, when I come home, he gives me a wide, eye squinting grin:) As soon as I leave work, I start getting excited to get home and see my little man. It's nice to get my brain thinking about school again, but boy oh boy I can't wait for
summer to get here! Thankfully spring has sprung and summer is on is way:)
Here are a few pictures that Auntie Madeleine took whilst taking care of Jacob last week.

Mmm Saucy

For the next two weeks Jacob and I will be blogging from Granny and Gramps' house in Mississauga. I will be back to work during this time for a short contract marking literacy test essays (yay fun!) It will also be a time for Jacob to adjust to his Mommy leaving him during the day to go to work. When we get home, Jacob will be going to real daycare, and though I am so happy with the care we've been luck to find, it will be sad to know that our year together (not even!) is over:(......Until summer, that is!

The real fun of our visit has already begun this evening with Jacob's first pasta and tomato sauce dinner. This kid sure does love his pasta. Can't you tell?

Hi Grandmas!

This is a little video of Jacob playing. As you can see, he call put the ball in the basket, and he is engaged with his toys (briefly), but once he sees a camera, it's hard to keep him from crawling all over you. He was excited to say Hi to his Grandmas though!

Pictures!

Little Boy Huge Joy

It is so much fun to watch Jacob make discoveries when he is playing. This week he finally figured out how to let go of a ball and put it in the basket of his basketball net, and another toy. Once he made this discovery, he would do it over and over so pleased with himself. He is also figuring out how other toys work, and instead of just hitting them randomly, he can press the buttons to turn things on.
Jacob's communication skills are improving also! He says "wow" or "ow" when he sees something he likes (most often a light or things he sees outside), and he gives approving squeals for games, toys, and books that are his favorite.
The miracle of a sleep schedule continues as we are now 2 weeks strong sleeping through the night. We had one night last week when Jacob woke for about an hour, but we really have no complaints, and are certainly enjoying all of this sleep! Oddly though, Paul and I both have been suffering sore necks for two weeks, so I wonder if all of this uninterupted sleep is messing with us? The other night Paul and I got a kick out of Jacob's little coat hanging next to ours. Awww. So cute:)

(Grr. Blogger is making it very difficult for me to upload photos or video. Hopefully this will be rectified soon)

Sleeping Update

Posted by Natalie Best on Sunday, April 04, 2010 1 comments

We are ecstatic to report that Jacob has slept four nights straight through, waking up at about 6:30-7ish. Last night I think he fell asleep before we reached the monitor to turn it on! Though it seems that he is finally teething, and that a few rough nights may be in our near future, we are so proud of our little guy, and how well he has adapted to our schedule:)

Fun in the Sun

We are absolutely loving the gorgeous weather that has come to stay for this Easter long weekend. We have had two picnics in as many days, and we've had our first excursion to the beach, park, Parliament buildings and the Byward market. If only every weekend could be long, and every day a perfect 28C!

It is so much fun to take Jacob out and watch him discover new things. He really likes to track birds across the sky, and people watch as we walk around town. We are very much looking forward to the many day trips we will have together and all of the discoveries we will make:)

Just felt like sending some Jacob love out tonight. We had a really wonderful day outside in this gorgeous weather, and we are looking forward to an even nicer long weekend home with Paul. Hoppy Easter!
