Chugga Chugga Woot Woot!

Oh how I love a good deal.
This morning I decided to get up early and hit the yard sales in hopes of finding a wonderful deal on a fabulous bookshelf. Instead, I ended up with a kite, a movie, an Indiana Jones costume (for Jacob someday, not Paul) and a Thomas the Tank Engine tent -all at a great bargain of course! The kite is a large biplane, and Jacob won't be able to use it or enjoy his costume for a few years, but he loves his giant Thomas tent! Here are a few pictures of him playing:) Can you believe I only paid 5 bucks for this thing?

Jacob's First May Long Weekend

Posted by Natalie Best on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 0 comments
I think it is about time for some Jacob news!
Between going back to work a few days a week, and enjoying the gorgeous weather this spring has afforded us, I haven't been making much time for blogging-or even picture taking for that matter. This is something I need to make a mental note about, since this past weekend, I only got a few shots of Jacob, and we did so much!
We had some wonderful company from my parents, and Jacob got to spend some time with his Uncle Matt and Aunt Sarah, as well as with other friends. We spent Saturday at Sarah's brother's trailer on a beautiful little lake, where Jacob sat in the sand and walk in the water for the first time. (Sarah-send me pictures!)
On Sunday, it was so hot and sunny that Paul went out and bought Jacob his first kiddy pool:) Though he's still a little nervous sitting in it by himself, he loves to stand around it and splash, and he likes it when mommy or daddy sits in it with him.
We spent Monday on a blanket in the backyard laughing at the faces and noises Jacob makes, and soothing a cranky boy who sppears to be finally teething.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend, and though it's over already, it makes me look forward to what I am sure will be an amazing summer.
New word(?) to add to Jacob's vocabulary this week: 'mo, which means Elmo:)

A New Part-time Routine

Posted by Natalie Best on Thursday, May 06, 2010 0 comments
We're back at home and we are changing it up once again.
This week I was lucky to spend a few days alone with Jacob since I did not get any calls for supply work. But since we pay a minimum two days a week for Jacob's sitter, today and tomorrow he will be with her. With no call today, I am all on my own.
Dropping off Jacob this morning at daycare went pretty well. I was just a smidge anxious about it, but all of that dissolved when Jacob actually reached out to his sitter and didn't even look back as they went downstairs to play. The lady we found seems so wonderful, and she shares a lot of the same parenting philosophies as Paul and I do. I think Jacob will have a great time there, and I know he will love playing with two other little boys.
So for now, this will be our routine: Up early to start getting ready in hopes of a supply call, and off to the sitter by 7:30. It's going to be tiring, but also a nice little taste of what life will be like in the fall when I am hopefully back to work regularly.

As usual, here are some pics of Jake:)
